The history of hip hop is a colorful one, full of intrigues and branded with the sentiments of the American youth whose values were being rejected by the older generation at that time. Hip hop was not just a type of music. It was a subculture, a way of life for urban young people who sought to express themselves in an alternative way that requires little monetary investment, yet effective enough in providing an outlet for their repressed emotions.
